Burkina Faso Mission Trip Update #3
Burkina Faso Mission Trip Update #3
Dad had the chance to share with Oumar (the translator) this morning. He basically asked the same questions as he did when Jeff shared with him. Dad isn't sure that Oumar is sincere. He is just praying that God will plant seeds in Oumar's life and that the Holy Spirit will open his eyes to the truth. They didn't do very much today because it's Market day. Tomorrow they will begin prayer walking, and their activity will increase. They had to move inside the house tonight because of very heavy rain. The weather tomorrow is supposed to be cloudy, with a high of 100 degrees, and with a low of 84 degrees. Dad keeps telling mom and I about how hot it is, and today his feet burned because he was wearing sandals. Poor dad. Continue to pray for the team, and their clarity of speech, thought, and mind.Wednesday, April 11, 2012
Burkina Faso Mission Trip Update #2
Burkina Faso Mission Trip Update #2
The Mission team made it to Badara today at around 11 A.M our time. Dad got lost in the village and three small boys had to show him how to get back to the house. They thought it was so funny that he was lost. (I thought it was pretty funny too). One of their translators, Oumar, is not a believer. Jeff Robinson shared the gospel with him, but he's still confused about the Trinity. Please pray that God will reveal himself to Oumar, and that he will understand. Tonight the team met with a few believers from the area. Two of them, a husband and a wife, walked 8 kilometers to meet with the team! The believers want to be encouraged, and to learn more Bible stories. The market comes to town tomorrow, and they will begin telling Bible stories either tomorrow night, or the next day. Tomorrow, the weather is supposed to be rainy with a high of 100 degrees and a low of 84 degrees. Pray for the believers in the area, that they will be encouraged by the team, and that they can share the love of Christ with the people of their villages. Pray for the team as they tell Bible stories, that they will have clarity of thought and mind, and that they can easily answer any questions the people may have.Tuesday, April 10, 2012
Burkina Faso Mission Trip Update #1
Burkina Faso Mission Trip Update #1
This is Missouri writing on this blog for my dad while he's in Africa. I'll be giving you updates on what's happening over there. The team arrived in Paris, France this morning for the layover at 12:30 our time and at 8:30 A.M. France time. He told mom and I that he had about an hour of sleep on the floor of the Paris airport, and zero sleep on the 9 hour flight to Paris. (Poor dad!) They arrived in Burkina Faso at 12:30 P.M. (our time) and at 5:30 P.M. Burkina Faso time. They're in Ouagadougou now, they just had supper at 4:30 P.M. our time, and 9:30 P.M. their time. They're staying at the Baptist Mission tonight in Ouagadougou, which has air conditioning and beds! Tomorrow morning, they're leaving at around 7:00 (their time) (2 A.M. our time) to head to Bobo Dioulasso, and then they will catch another bus and ride a little over an hour to Badara, where they will be staying the rest of the time. Dad said that it's hot, windy and dusty there. The weather tomorrow is supposed to be sunny and have a high of 104 degrees and a low of 88 degrees. Dad told me that he read a few of the cards he received from our church family, and was blessed and encouraged. Pray for their safety as they travel tomorrow, and pray for the people that they will be soon witnessing to. Pray that the Sambla will have open hearts and ears for what God has to say to them. On behalf of my dad I would like to say a word of thanks to everyone for their support. I will be posting updates as I receive them.
